Two Salmon over a Purple Circle
My Salmon Series is inspired by my trip to Alaska and the unforgettable experience salmon swimming upstream to spawn. Their determination, rhythm, and instinct to return home left a strong impression on me, and these monotypes reflect that movement and sense of purpose. Each artwork includes eleven circles and a pair of salmon, symbols that became part of the visual language of this series—representing cycles, migration, and the continuity of life.
Every piece is created as a monotype, a single, hand-pulled print that exists only once. I build the imagery using layered color, texture, and pattern to capture the flow of water, the shimmer of scales, and the contrast between stillness and motion. The circles act as grounding elements within the composition, guiding the eye and echoing the repeating cycles found in nature.
All artworks in this series are one-of-a-kind originals, and I do not make prints or reproductions. Each piece is created on 12 x 12 inch paper, mounted to a cradled wood panel, and ready to hang.
This collection is ideal for collectors who appreciate process-driven artwork, bold symbolic imagery, and pieces inspired by the power and persistence of the natural world.
