My Backyard Bird Series is inspired by the birds I observe right outside my studio and around my home. These daily visitors—whether bold, curious, or quiet—offer endless moments worth capturing. I’m drawn to their gestures, markings, and personalities, as well as the way they move through the seasons. Each artwork reflects a specific moment of watching, listening, and noticing what often goes unseen.
Each piece is created using a mix of acrylic paint and hand-painted collage papers. I build my surfaces through layering, using texture, pattern, and subtle color shifts to bring the birds forward while keeping the background active and engaging. This approach helps preserve the feeling of being outdoors—surrounded by movement, branches, light, and the small rhythms of the natural world.
